The Center for Development Management (CDM) is AIM’s response to Asia’s need for competent professional managers who have the skills and values to serve as development catalysts and practitioners in their respective countries, societies, and organizations. Believing that development must go beyond mere production of goods and services and embrace human resource development, AIM founded CDM in 1991, after almost a decade of the Institute’s involvement in development work along the areas of farmers and fisher-folk training, community/grassroots organizing work, field-based action research on community organizing experiences, farm systems, and population project implementation.
Knowing that Asia is home to most of the world’s poor, CDM espouses a philosophy of public prosperity building and asset and human capital formation. CDM is renowned for its specialization in the areas of governance, environmental management, development finance, health, education, the management of cities, and regional integration. It is unparalleled in the region for its close links with the world’s major multilateral institutions such as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
CDM’s one-year Master in Development Management program is intended for executives and managers from developing nations who are deeply committed to the advancement of Asia. In addition, CDM conducts research, certificate courses in development management, and institution-building activities for Asian organizations. |
